In addition to eating right and exercising, one needs to make routine health check-ups a part of their efforts to maintain their health.

4 Health Charts That Can Help Surmise Your Fitness Levels

A complete health check-up helps one stay abreast with their fitness level; the health charts display the ideal requirements, and once the individual gets their results, they can gauge how fit they are by comparing their results with the ideal requirement displayed in these health charts.

Here are some common health charts that are used to measure the individual’s health condition.

Heart rate chart: The heart rate chart is a health chart that is used to display the normal and elevated heart rate levels. An individual’s heart rate is a vital indicator of their health. The heart rate is the measure of the number of times the heart beats in the space of a minute. According to the heart rate chart, the heart rate levels vary according to the individual’s age. For instance, between the age of 5 to 6 years, the normal heart rate is 75 to 115 bpm, whereas, for those over 10 years, the normal heart rate is 60 to 100 bpm. Anything deviating from the standard norm can be a cause for concern.

PSA Level Chart: A Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) level chart is used to decipher whether the individual has prostate cancer after undergoing a PSA blood test. The normal PSA Level is 4.0 ng/mL and lower than this. Slightly elevated PSA levels range between 4 ng/mL and 10 ng/mL, whereas, moderately elevated PSA level ranges between 10ng/mL and 20ng/mL. Higher the PSA Level, higher are the chances of the individual developing prostate cancer.

WBC range chart: White blood cells (WBC) are the cells that help fight off infections, and if the WBC count is low, it implies that the individual is more susceptible to infections. According to the WBC range chart, the required number of WBCs in the blood should be between 4,500 to 11,000 WBC per microliter. However, the required range of WBCs can vary slightly according to different laboratories. There are four types of white blood cells, and the WBCs responsible for strengthening the immune system are neutrophils. If the neutrophil levels fall, it can make the individual more vulnerable to infections and illnesses.

Cholesterol HDL/LDL chart: Cholesterol is already present in the body as the liver produces it, and certain foods that we consume, such as dairy products and meat contain cholesterol as well. There’s good cholesterol, high-density lipoproteins (HDL), and bad cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins (LDL). Trouble starts brewing when the LDL cholesterol levels are higher than the HDL cholesterol levels. According to the cholesterol HDL/LDL chart, when the total cholesterol level for an adult is 240 mg/dL or more, it indicates high cholesterol. In such cases, the LDL cholesterol will be 160 mg/dL or more, and the triglycerides will be 200 mg/dL or more.
